These photographs are the result of a long and compulsive look at my partner, Madi. In part, they are a response to the idea of the muse, fraught with the ironies of patriarchy. Rather than the subject being the enabler for the artist’s genius, I prefer to explore the complexity and range of emotions that result from daily life: emotional and economic struggles for independence, control, and an inevitable lack thereof. Moments of stillness are broken by motion as we are pushed by the wind, tides and restless rotation of the Earth.
