Currently untitled, this project is a document of distance–emotional and geographic–between a loved one and myself. Cohabitating with unfamiliar terrain while simultaneously coming to unknow and forge differing connections with love and life, the photographs represent the cyclical experiences of intimacy, connection, distance, and intangibility. Much in the way that these documents emerged from a physical journey, their manifestation is still in a state of becoming and discovery.

Ian Sherlock Molloy is an artist based in Eugene, Oregon where he is an MFA candidate and Teaching Fellow at University of Oregon. Ian’s work is centered around an inquiry-driven exploration of place and interpersonal connection. The varied documents most often form sound performances and photographs embracing intimacy and sentimentality. When Ian isn’t in the studio, he spends his time running in the mountains.
